Trevi Fountain

Our experience around the Trevi Fountain.

We travelled to Rome on a very tight budget, but managed to see some amazing sights in Rome. One of which is the legendary Trevi Fountain with the crystal clear water.
The centre statue of Oceanus really looks nice, as he seems to be taking charge of the chariot.
The chariot is drawn by two horse, one seems a bit more wild and the other almost calm.
The two contrasting sides of the fountain are a mystery to us, bur it is still quite a popular place to visit. It's amazing how many tourists like to go and visit.

We had to make our way through some tough crowds to get a picture in the middle.
Please be aware that it is not allowed to be standing or touching parts of the fountain area. A special note would be to the few drunk people that have gone for a swim and then get you into a lot of trouble.
A few brave, but ignorant people try diving from the top of the fountain. This is obviously a special place and such actions are not welcome in the Roman city.

The fountain looks quite grand at night with the lights and the beautiful blue water that shines, as if to welcome you in.
There are legends about returning to Rome.... If you throw 1 of 3 coins into the fountain. The second coin, you might find romance and the third coin you'll surely get married.
Well if that's true or not... only time will tell.
Some nice restraunts close by the fountain, where you can have something to eat. Remember that if you move a little bit away from the tourist attractions, price of food and something to drink also gets a little cheaper.  We had a very nice slice of pizza for my wife and I to share while staring at the water of the fountain. Hoping to return one day to show our daughter the beautiful splender of this fountain. The Trevi fountain is quite easily to get to by using the tram or subway system, one of the closest stations is Barberini.
We made use of our Roma Pass, quite effectively.

On a funny note... is that my wife almost fell into the Trevi fountain, as she didn't look where she was walking and tripped over her own feet not just once, but every time we went back to the Trevi fountain be it during the day or night, whilst we were in Rome.
