Italian New Years Eve

We were fortunate enough to spend a New Years Eve in Rome.
What a concert, what a night...late in December ...

A cold evening... -4°C on December 31st. We went out in the busy city streets of Rome.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do... find out if the subway is operational, especially at midnight. We were stranded due to the number of people trying to use the subway and it was shutdown as the system couldn't handle the amount of people.  Keep your partner close by, as it gets chaotic and could get separated, its a lot of people. We had to walk back to the hotel, at least 15 - 20 km.

Here we are waiting patiently for the fireworks. A packed area surrounding the Colosseum. So many people awaiting the New Year. The crowds were becoming larger by the minute.

Walking around the Colosseum enjoying the evening. People selling champagne to bring in the New Years with some cheer and happiness. Know your prices, as people try and sell you stuff at very expensive rates.

The arch of Constantine brightly lit, standing tall in the Colosseum's shadow. The fencing around it is for protection against vandalism.

A full moon in the distance to make the night more special and mystical.

A concert at Circus Maximus that kept all the people engaged.

The fireworks at the stroke of midnight at Circus Maximus.  A great site to behold. Magnificent to see all the people enjoying the fireworks.  We couldn't understand everything in Italian, but the show was worth watching.

A very high routine, showing off the Italian show stopping concerts. We had to drink some coffee, as it was getting colder towards the morning hours.
