Cango Caves

The Cango Caves

± 29 km from Oudshoorn in the Klein Karoo, the Cango caves hold some breath taking cave formations.  You can take different guided tours which will show you various beautiful aspects of cave stalagmites and early cave men exploration many years ago. 

If you suffer from claustrophobia or if asthmatic, the deeper you go into the caves it can become humid and more difficult to breathe at times.  Nevertheless its a great spectacle to see and appreciate.

There is a more adventurous route which can be done, where you'll actually do a bit of crawling and tight fitting which is named the chimney... they have a sample in front at the entrance, if you think you would be able to fit... before you pay and embark on the quest.

Just to walk through and hear the history of how the caves were discovered.. is amazing.  in the start of the tour, they actually put off all the lights, and let you experience total darkness... which can't be explained... you cannot see anything...!

While walking back to the exit, I was taking videos to show our family... telling someone isn't quite the same as a few photos or videos.
